MARKETING AWARD WINNER - RICKY LAAHTY ZUNI FROG FETISH
HERITAGE PROGRAM MARKETPLACE MUSEUM OF NORTHERN ARIZONA
Flagstaff, Arizona - September 2000 -
(In our personal Ricky Frog Collection)
This large frog was carved from Bright
Green Serpentine and won a beautiful large ribbon and a medal for Ricky
He has a long Abalone Shell
tongue sticking out to quickly catch a passing Gold-Pearl Shell Dragonfly
Quite an Amazing Frog! We're not sure what a frog's tongue
looks like but this is as good as any...
His body measures 3 1/4" long x 1 5/8" wide and his tongue goes up 1 3/4" high
The dragonfly is a dark custard-yellow and has small shell inlaid eyes. He is
secured to the tongue with a metal post (and metal sleeve which the post fits into), then glued
His back is detailed with a large, curving 'Leekya Leaf' reminiscent of the leaves
that Francis Leekya made in his neckware years back
His eyes are deep and lustrous inlaid shell with dark pupils and glow pink and gold
What a great face! We just wonder...did he get the dragonfly or
did it get away? Ricky said "it was a close call but the dragonfly
probably got away."
What do you think?
