Carico Lake Petit Point Zuni Ring by Hannaweeke's |
This extraordinary ring was made by hand by Zuni elders Alice and Thomas Hannaweeke. The Hannaweeke's have been making the Zuni "snake eyes" jewelry together for about 50 years. They are known for their high-quality, high-end, impeccable craftsmanship. They usually work with blue Sleeping Beauty Turquoise so this ring is a rarity. The high-grade, natural, lime green Carico Lake Nevada Turquoise exhibits bright lime-green and lime-blue colors that are exciting and pretty to look at. Each of the 50 petit-point stones measures a little under 1/8" in diameter set in individual bezels and accented with fine silver drops: how does Thomas solder such tiny pieces so close together without melting the neighboring pieces? This is what makes Zuni jewelry stand apart; the refined attention to detail and the ability to create gorgeous, wearable and long-lasting jewelry using such small components. The top of the ring (with stones) measures 5/8" wide x 1 1/4" long, and...

Long 5-Strand Kingman Turquoise Lovato Heishe Necklace |
This beautiful, flowing necklace is composed of five strands of 1/4" Kingman Turquoise heishe beads (stabilized) and one signature bead of natural Mediterranean Red Coral offset to go over the heart. The bright, beautiful heishe was hand-made by Marvin & Lillian Lovato of the Santo Domingo Pueblo in New Mexico and is soft, limp and beautifully strung. They take great care in picking out the rough rock and choose the best they can find. Yes, there are grades of stabilized turquoise and these beads show a great variety of color shades which adds to the overall look and makes the beads look as though they are natural and have been worn, which is a good thing, as they show all these different shades of sky blue and aqua to teal blue. Just fabulous and a head turner for sure. The necklace 20 1/2" long, finished with their hand-made, hand-stamped sterling cones and a hook & eye clasp and a versatile 4 1/2" extension chain to make it up to 24" long. Elegant...
