8208 Mose McCormack Royston Turquoise Tab Necklace

Mose McCormack Royston Turquoise Tab Necklace

This fantastic, old-style tab necklace was created by long-time New Mexico jeweler, lapidary, painter, poet, turquoise miner and musician Mose McCormack.   Mose has cut five cd's of his music, and has found a following in Australia - check out his MySpace page.  I'm excited about carrying his work.  The turquoise in this piece is high-grade, natural Royston Turquoise from Nevada that shows a multitude of deep, rich shades of blue, aqua and green that makes it look like a vintage necklace that a Navajo would wear.  The spacer beads graduate in size from 1/4" at the center down to 3/16" at the ends, while the tabs measure 3/4" long at the center, down to 1/4" at the smallest.  The two-strand necklace is finished with turquoise cones, hand-made sterling beads and hook and eye clasp.  Feels great on, and will only get better over time with wear and love. 21 1/2" long measuring the (shortest) top strand, so hangs lower ... more info

60229 Rare Damale Spiderweb Turquoise 18kt Bead Necklace by M. Garcia

Rare Damale Spiderweb Turquoise 18kt Bead Necklace by M. Garcia

This exotic turquoise necklace was hand-made by Columbian native beadmaker Michael Garcia, now residing in Colorado. The necklace is made up of extremely rare, natural gem-grade Damale Turquoise from Nevada (with a few bright, high-grade natural blue turquoise in there for contrast and surprise). This material was mined over twenty years ago, and acquired about five years ago in the rough; material like this is rarely if ever available today. The beads were meticulously hand-cut from nuggets and drilled, then went through many stages of grinding trying not to break them in the process.  Except for the jewel centerpiece (5/16" wide x 3/4" long), the beads are not highly polished; the artist chose to leave it with a more natural, understated finish. The slightly rounded beads measure 3/16" wide at the center, tapering to 1/8" at the ends. They are a fascinating combination of the earthy shades of green, lime, khaki, rust with black spiderwebbing that is only ... more info

60228 Damale Variscite & New Lander Bead Necklace by M. Garcia

Damale Variscite & New Lander Bead Necklace by M. Garcia

This beautiful necklace was crafted from high-grade, natural Damale Variscite mixed with green New Lander Chalcosiderite, both from Nevada.  Often called a 'cousin to turquoise,' Variscite is a mineral dominated by aluminum rather than copper: it is an aluminum phosphate. (It's missing the copper which brings in the blue coloring in turquoise.)  These beads are masterfully shaped and polished, and measure from 5/16" at the center down to 1/8" at the ends. The cones are green turquoise and I love the sterling findings at the end: it's a hook and eye clasp with a guard that clicks in securely.  It is 17 3/4" long (extension chain is available free of charge, just request).   Crafted and strung by Columbian native Miguel Garcia now residing in Boulder, Colorodo.  Great by itself or stacked with other beads, this one is a standout piece.

31932 3-Strand Blue Gem Turquoise J. Huntress Necklace

3-Strand Blue Gem Turquoise J. Huntress Necklace

This was made from some of the most rare turquoise today, authentic "Battle Mountain Blue Gem" from Nevada. The beads have shine, hardness, zat and life in the stones, teal to pure deep-blue to aqua: distinctively Blue Gem, even from across the room! The design is pure old-style, hundreds of different shaded fantail wafer and blue spacer beads. This is a great necklace to wear when you feel like wearing something luxurious, just for yourself, and can be worn with a black dress or when you're in a casual, laid-back mood in a t-shirt and jeans.  Battle Mountain Blue Gem was often found as tiny, thin veins running through the rock, these fan-tail wafers were meticulously made by John Huntress of Santa Fe from his stash of gem-grade rough Blue Gem. It has a high shine due to the quality of the beads, is 22" long at it's shortest of the three strands, 1" long wafers at the center, finished with simple sterling cones, hook & eye. And as always, ... more info
